CYRIL & METHODIUS HIGH SCHOOL at the Cathedral of
the Most-Holy Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow"
in San Francisco has existed for over 50 years. Its founder
was Archimandrite Afanasii. The High School includes three
preparatory classes, seven elementary classes and one supplementary
class. Classes are held three times a week (on Tuesdays and
Thursdays after public school and on Saturday mornings) for
younger students and twice a week for older students.
The High School program is modeled after that of pre-revolutionary
schools, but is adapted to contemporary needs--many textbooks
are written by the High School's educators.

DIOCESAN SCHOOL OF ST. SERGIUS
in Buenos Aires-Villa Ballester, Argentina, was founded
in 1968 at St. Sergius Church. The school has its own 2-story
building with classrooms, a hall and sports field. The strength
of the school is in its deeply religious make-up: in the forming
of young orthodox people in the emigration for 3-4 generations.
In 1988, the Argentinian authorities honored the School by
naming the street where the church and school are found after
St. Vladimir.

School
for Girls
Orthodox School in Bethany
This school and boarding school for girls was opened in 1937
and was in part inspired by the example of Grand Duchess St.
Elizabeth Feodorovna the New-martyr. Nuns from Gethsemane
Convent work there. Over 300 girls study there, mostly poorer
Arab girls from nearby Muslim neighborhoods, ages 7 to 15.
The boarding school keeps 15 students. In 2002-2003 there
will not only be Orthodox Arabs living at the boarding school,
but a few Russian Orthodox girls, the children of immigrants
from Russia. The School has a church of St. Lazarus of the
Four days and a cave of St. Nicholas the Miracle-worker.
