On the eve of the meeting of the Presidents of the USA and Russia, a prayer service was held at the reliquary of St John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco, the Miracle Worker

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, the feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross and the first day of the Dormition Fast, a prayer service for peace was held at the Cathedral of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow”in San Francisco, CA, in front of the reliquary containing the incorrupt and miracle-working relics of St John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco.

The service was led by the Cathedral Dean, Archpriest Peter Perekrestov. During the service, a prayer was raised to St John for the cessation of hostilities and the establishment of peace between Russia and Ukraine, as well as for a successful resolution of the conflict during the upcoming negotiations between the Presidents of the USA and Russia.
