The Synodal Choir gives a charity concert in honor of the 10th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of Metropolitan Nicholas
On the evening of Friday, December 6, 2024, the Synodal Choir gave a concert entitled "Let Thy Soul Rejoice" in honor of the tenth anniversary of the episcopal consecration of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. Proceeds from the concert will be used for the renovation of the Synodal Residence in New York City and its churches. Present at the concert were members of the Synod of Bishops, clergy, parishioners of the cathedral, and numerous neighbors, some of whom were visiting an Orthodox church for the first time.
The Synodal Choir, under the direction of conductor Vadim Gan, performed a wonderful selection of liturgical hymns from the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy, including works by classical composers such as Kastalsky and Lvovsky, as well as contemporary émigré composers such as Ledkovsky and Konstantinov. At the end of the performance, the more than 200 spectators gave a lengthy applause.
A reception was then held in the cathedral hall organized by G&B Events for the archpastors, clergy, singers and guests.
On Saturday, December 7, after praying at Divine Liturgy at St Sergius of Radonezh Church at the Synodal Residence, the members of the Synod of Bishops, who had gathered for the last session of the year, continued their work.
