The Pachal services of the Primate of the Russian Church Abroad
On Bright Monday, May 6, 2024, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York paid an archpastoral visit to St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ, where he celebrated Divine Liturgy. Upon entering the cathedral, His Eminence was greeted by the rector, Archpriest Serge Lukianov. He noted how the future Metropolitan studied at the cathedral’s Russian school.
On Bright Tuesday, May 7, the third day of Christ’s Glorious Resurrection, Metropolitan Nicholas paid an archpastoral visit to neighboring St George Church in Howell, NJ. The visit of the First Hierarch was timed to coincide with the parish’s patronal feast (May 6 – the feast day of the Holy Great Martyr and Trophy-Bearer George), in honor of which he celebrated Divine Liturgy and reviewed recent renovations to the church.
On Bright Saturday, May 11, His Eminence paid an archpastoral visit to St Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ, where he celebrated the Paschal Divine Liturgy. At the entrance to the Memorial Church dedicated to the Millennium of the Baptism of Rus’, the First Hierarch was greeted by its deputy rector, Archpriest Serge Ledkovsky.
On May 12, the 2nd Sunday of Pascha, dedicated to the Holy Apostle Thomas, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas celebrated Divine Liturgy in St Seraphim Cathedral of Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY.
On Thursday, May 16, the second anniversary of the repose of Metropolitan Hilarion (Kapral; +2022), sixth First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Nicholas served a panihida after Divine Liturgy in St Sergius of Radonezh Chapel at the Synodal Headquarters in New York City.
