Holy Trinity Cathedral in Toronto bids farewell to the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God

The visit of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign" to Canada concluded on the feast of Archangel Michael and the Heavenly Hosts on 21 November, 2022. His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada celebrated Divine Liturgy along with the cathedral clergy: Mitred Archpriest Vladimir Malchenko, Archpriest Vyacheslav Davidenko, along with Priest Dmitry Cheremis, Rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Hamilton, ON. Also serving were the cathedral’s Protodeacon Alexander Morin and Deacon Andrei Filimonov of St Tikhon Church in Cambridge, where His Eminence had celebrated Divine Liturgy the Sunday before.

The services were attended by a large gathering of worshipers, with over 200 being anointed during vigil, while some 500 were in attendance for Liturgy. During the reading of the Hours, acolyte Peter Rakov was ordained a reader, and readers Seth Davidenko and Andreas Petadoras were ordained subdeacons.

That evening, the Hodigitria (Protectress) of the Russian diaspora, the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign,” under the singing of the cathedral choir, departed the Canadian Diocese.
