Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany leads a round table on the canonization of saints in the Russian Orthodox Church

On 31 October, 2022, a round table was held sponsored by Sretensky Theological Academy in Moscow organized by the Ecclesiastical Law committee of the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church, as reported by Patriarchia.ru.

His Eminence Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia presided over the event. The topic of the discussion was the criteria for venerating an ascetic if the supreme ecclesiastical authorities had not established the saint formally. The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church relegated the examination of this matter to this committee.

A number of clerics participated in the event in person or via virtual connection.
