Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America participates in feast-day celebrations at a Poltava church

On 30 September, 2021, the feast day of SS Vera, Nadezhda and Lyubov and their mother Sophia, His Eminence Metropolitan Philipp of Poltava and Mirgorod and His Eminence Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, celebrated Divine Liturgy at a church dedicated to these saints in the city of Poltava as part of its feast-day festivities.

After the reading of the Holy Gospel, Vladyka Peter delivered a sermon.

Augmented prayers were lifted during divine services for the end of the pandemic and for the medical personnel fighting for the life and health of their patients.

After the service, Vladyka Philipp thanked Vladyka Peter for visiting and for their joint prayer, congratulating the parishioners on their feast day, and those celebrating their namesdays.

Archbishop Peter in turn thanked Metropolitan Philipp and the clergymen of Poltava for their warm welcome. As a sign of spiritual unity and in prayerful memory of St John of Shanghai and San Francisco, he gave them a small omophorion, epitrachelion, cuffs and skufia of the saint.
