NEW YORK: August 24, 2021
Announcement from the Synodal Liturgical Music Commission of ROCOR

The Synodal Liturgical Music Commission (LMC), during its regular meeting of August 12, 2021, chaired by Archpriest Andre Papkov, discussed the situation regarding the Russian Orthodox Church Music Conference which was being planned for Pompano Beach, Florida, hosted by the parish of St Luke.

Traditionally, the North American Conferences are held in the first half of October but, in view of the pandemic, and the results of a survey of attendees of previous conferences, it was decided initially to hold the conference in November.

Resolved:

After considering all points of view related to the situation with the pandemic in Florida, where there has been a critical increase in Coronavirus infections, it is with great regret that the LMC must announce that this year’s Conference will be postponed until October of 2022.

At the same time, the Commission is also considering other strategies, taking into account the restrictions connected to the pandemic, in order to continue its important work in the course of the next year.

The LMC continues to pray, along with all of you, that this serious illness will end.
