WESTERN EUROPEAN DIOCESE: August 30, 2018
Photo-report on divine services at Geneva’s Elevation of the Cross Cathedral on the Dormition of the Most-Holy Mother of God

On Tuesday, August 28, 2018, the day the Holy Orthodox Church celebrates the Dormition of the Most-Holy Mother of God, all-night vigil and Divine Liturgy were celebrated at Elevation of the Cross Cathedral in Geneva, Switzerland. A great many parishioners were in attendance despite the workday, many of whom partook of the Holy Mysteries of confession and Communion.

Protopriest Pavel Tsvetkoff delivered a sermon in which he stressed that the entire life of the Most-Holy Mother of God was mysterious and wondrous, bearing the mark of Divinity. The Holy Church calls the Dormition of the Mother of God Her last mystery. The clergymen reminded the worshipers that the life of the Most-Holy Virgin, the Mother of the Savior of the World, included many sorrows and humbling, which She abode without grumbling, and according to Tradition, helped in the work of the Apostles until Her very Dormition.

A festive moleben was then performed after Liturgy.
