NEW YORK: March 22, 2018
The anniversary of the death of Sergei Rachmaninoff is marked at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign" in New York

On March 18, 2018, the Fifth Sunday of Great Lent, after Divine Liturgy and the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign" in New York City, a memorial service was performed for Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff, the famous Russian composer, pianist and conductor.

Rachmaninoff died in California on March 28, 1943, and was buried in New York State. Having received a request from Peter Fekula, the cathedral choir director and member of the Synodal Liturgical Music Commission, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, expressed the wish at the latest conference of the Synod to mark this anniversary on a broader scale after Holy Pascha this year.
