A Delegation of the Russian Church Abroad Accompanying the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign” Participates in Divine Services on the Feast of the Elevation of the Cross of the Lord

On September 27, 2016, the feast day of the Elevation of the Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, His Eminence Metropolitan German of Kursk and Rylsk, along with His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, celebrated Divine Liturgy at Znamensky Cathedral in Kursk, Russia, where the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign” is now being offered for veneration. On the eve of the holiday, Metropolitan German performed all-night vigil along with the rite of the Elevation of the Cross.

On September 25, the miracle-working icon was brought to the cathedral in a procession of the cross from Kursk-Root Hermitage of the Most-Holy Mother of God, where it had been brought from New York on September 22. Since then there has been a constant stream of worshipers venerating the icon.

After Liturgy, Vladyka German congratulated all the worshipers on the holiday.
