During a session of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia held on June 30-July 1, 2016, in San Francisco, CA, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, the 80th anniversary of the repose of Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitsky) of Kiev and Galicia, the first Primate of the Russian Church Abroad, was discussed. Metropolitan Hilarion relayed to the Synod members that during the October clergy retreat of the Eastern American Diocese, Protopriest Nikolai Artemoff of the German Diocese will read a lecture on the life and legacy of the great hierarch. By recommendation of His Grace Bishop Peter of Cleveland [now Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America--ed.] the Synod decreed that all churches of the Russian Church Abroad are to prayerfully commemorate the late First Hierarch of ROCOR on Sunday, August 14, 2016, for on which to issue a decree, signed by Metropolitan Hilarion and His Grace Bishop Nicholas, Deputy Secretary of the Synod of Bishops:
