SAN FRANCISCO: May 10, 2006

The Delegates of the IV All-Diaspora Council Prayed Before the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God at the End of Day 2

At 7:30 pm on May 9, at the end of Day 2 of the IV All-Diaspora Council, during which the negotiation process between the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and the Moscow Patriarchate was discussed, His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus, the archpastors and delegates of the Council gathered at the Cathedral to pray before the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God. A moleben to the Theotokos and the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia was led by His Grace Bishop Agathangel of Odessa, along with His Grace Bishop Michael of Boston and His Grace Bishop Peter of Cleveland.

Upon analogia placed in center of the cathedral lay the Kursk-Root Icon and an icon of the Holy New Martyrs, the 25th anniversary of the glorification of whom is being celebrated at this Church Council. The prayers before the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, the supplication before the New Martyrs by the archpastors and members of the Council bear witness to their effort to find the correct path which, as they hope, will be shown to them by God.
