With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus, the Kursk-Root
Icon of the Mother of God is now visiting parishes and communities
of the Diocese of Chicago and Detroit. The icon is drawing a great
stream of worshipers everywhere it goes. During Cheesefare Week,
the parishioners and worshipers of St Tikhon of Moscow Russian Orthodox
Mission in Sandusky, OH, were honored by the visit of the Most-Blessed
Virgin through Her miracle-working Icon. The Icon was brought by
Priest Victor Boldewskul, who is the Acting Rector of the community.
Fr Victor performed a moleben with an akathist before the Icon.
There were not only members of St Tikhon's Mission in attendance
but other Orthodox Christians and even non-Orthodox of the area,
who came to venerate the Queen of Heaven and to pray before the
Icon.
On the evening of March 8, Bishop Peter of Cleveland participated
in a reception and spiritual discussion organized by Bishop Longin
of Novo-Gracanica on the occasion of the visit of His Eminence Metropolitan
Amfilohije of Montenegro, who read a lecture entitled: "The
True Meaning of Human Life." Local Orthodox Christians, gathering
in great numbers, listened with great interest to His Eminence's
words, and were given an opportunity to ask questions.
The Kursk-Root Icon will visit Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral
in Chicago (Des Plaines) before the Diocese's Clergy Retreat and
Conference, which will be held during the second week of Great Lent,
and then will continue to travel throughout the diocese.
