Archimandrite James (Corazza) is consecrated Bishop of Sonora, Second Vicar of the Western American Diocese

On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, the feast day of the Cathedral of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in San Francisco, in accordance with a decision by the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and confirmed by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America, Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, led the consecration of Archimandrite James (Corazza) as Bishop of Sonora, Second Vicar of the diocese.

Joining His Eminence in celebrating Divine Liturgy were His Eminence Archbishop Benjamin of San Francisco and Western America (Orthodox Church in America); His Grace Bishop Theodosius of Seattle, First Vicar of the Western American Diocese of ROCOR, and His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Deputy Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, along with representatives of other Orthodox Churches in the area. Vladimir Krassovsky led the Cathedral Choir.

Vladyka Kyrill gave words of guidance to Vladyka James at the end of service, entrusting him with the episcopal staff.

After the veneration of the cross, the Russian Center in San Francisco hosted a reception, where many congratulatory messages were delivered to Bp James.
