Patriarchal condolences on the repose of Archbishop Alypy (Gamanovich)

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent condolences on the repose of Archbishop Alypy (Gamanovich):

To His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York,
First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia,

To the Clergy and Flock of the Chicago Diocese, the Relatives and Friends of Archbishop Alypy:

Your Eminence, Dear Vladyka! Honorable Fathers, Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Christ is Risen!

Please accept my condolences on the repose of His Eminence Archbishop Alypy, which took place on the very day of the Bright Resurrection of Christ our God.

The life of Vladyka was filled with many tribulations since his very youth. During the war, the Lord allowed him to suffer in a prison camp. Yet by Divine Providence, the future archpastor was released from imprisonment and joined the brethren of the monastic community of St Job of Pochaev. This directed his future path of service to the Orthodox Church, to which he devoted almost 70 years of his life.

Seeing his fervent service in the harvest-fields of God, Christ the Chief Pastor called him to the Archpastoral service, making of him a successor to Apostolic grace.

Over the course of 45 years, Archbishop Alypy conducted his obedience on the Chicago cathedra, tirelessly striving to bear witness to those near and far of the beauty and truth of Holy Orthodoxy, obtaining thereby the respect and love of his clergy and flock. I would especially like to note his significant contribution to the reestablishment of canonical unity between the Russian Church and the Church Abroad.

I lift up my heartfelt prayers to the Savior of the world and the Victor over death, Jesus Christ, for the repose of this faithful servant of God. May the Lord receive with love the newly-reposed Archbishop Alypy and grant him an abode with the righteous, where there is neither sickness nor sorrow nor sighing, but life everlasting. Eternal memory to him!

With profound condolences,

+KIRILL,
PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
