A delegation of the Russian Church Abroad participates in the celebration of the Elevation of the Cross of the Lord in Znamensky Cathedral

On September 26, 2018, the eve of the Elevation of the Cross of the Lord, His Eminence Metropolitan German of Kursk and Rylsk performed all-night vigil at Znamensky Cathedral in Kursk, where the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign” is now visiting.

The next day, Metropolitan German and His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia celebrated Divine Liturgy at the cathedral. Metropolitan German delivered a sermon and congratulated everyone on the feast day, thanking Vladyka Nicholas for their joint service and for the joy that thousands of residents of Kursk garner from venerating the historic holy icon which hails from the Kursk region. Vladyka German then gave Bishop Nicholas a gift of a set of hierarchal vestments.

In response, Vladyka Nicholas congratulated everyone on this Twelve-feast holiday, and thanked Metropolitan German for his prayers and hospitality.

Later that day, Metropolitan German consecrated a memorial plaque for the visit of Tsar-Martyr Nicholas II to Kursk, mounted on the façade of Sviridovsky Concert Hall (formerly the Nobility Council building).
