NEW YORK: October 6, 2017
The President and Secretary of the Synod of Bishops Send Condolences to Archbishop Mark and the Monks of St Job Monastery After the Death of Hegumen Evfimy (Logvinov)

To His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany
and the Brethren of St Job of Pochaev Monastery in Munich

Your Eminence Vadlyko,
Reverend Fathers and Brothers:

A great sorrow has befallen not only our monastery in Munich, but the entire German Diocese and the fullness of the Russian Church Abroad as well. After a long and difficult illness, our kind, intelligent and prayerful ascetic, our dear Hegumen Evfimy has departed in the Lord. With his monastic labors, his pious service at the altar, his quiet words, his many years of work and his wisdom, he earned the love, respect and authority among many people who knew him.

We share the pain of this irreplaceable loss with the monks, and lift our prayers for the repose of his bright soul. We believe that the monasticism of Fr Evfimy here on earth will serve as a ladder that leads to his eternal life in Heaven.

We mentally offer our final kiss, and invoke God’s blessing upon the monastics, with kindest wishes for good health, boldness of spirit and Divine aid.

Asking your holy prayers, we remain with love in the Lord,

+HILARION,
Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York,
First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

+KYRILL,
Archbishop of San Francisco and Western America,
Secretary of the Synod of Bishops.
