Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany Participates in Celebrations of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Martyr Alexander Schmorell of Munich

On April 30, 2017, the Third Sunday of Pascha, the feast of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women, His Eminence Metropolitan Veniamin of Orenburg and Saraktash and His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, celebrated Divine Liturgy in St Nicholas Cathedral in Orenburg, Russia. The 100th anniversary of the birth of Martyr Alexander Schmorell of Munich was celebrated that day.

They were joined in the service by other clergymen, and the Archbishop’s Choir under the direction of Yulia Vaganova and the Orenburg Theological Seminary Choir under Alexander Romashkov sang.
Protopriest Vladimir Akinshin delivered a sermon before Holy Communion.

Afterwards, the hierarchs and clergymen performed a moleben to Martyr Alexander.

Metropolitan Veniamin and Archbishop Mark then exchanged Paschal greetings, and Vladyka Mark was given a panaghia and cross to mark the occasion.

The Ruling Bishop of the German Diocese then thanked Metropolitan Veniamin for his hospitality shown to him and his delegation from Germany, and congratulated the women of St Nicholas Cathedral on the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women feast.
