NEW YORK: August 29, 2016
Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York Will Make an Archpastoral Visit to Chicago

On Monday, August 29, 2016, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, will travel to Chicago. There he will lead celebrations of the coming 90th birthday and namesday of His Eminence Archbishop Alypy, who has led the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America since 1987.

On Tuesday, August 30, the feast day of St Alypy, Icon-Painter of the Monastery of the Kiev Caves, Metropolitan Hilarion will celebrate Divine Liturgy at Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral in Chicago, along with a host of hierarchs and clergymen of the Mid-American Diocese and visiting clerics. After the service, Archbishop Alypy will be honored at a reception in the neighboring cathedral hall.

Later that evening, Metropolitan Hilarion will visit Novo Gracanica Monastery of the Serbian Orthodox Church, where he will venerate its relics and icons, and meet with His Grace Bishop Longin of Novo Gracanica and Midwestern America.
