On the Sunday of All Saints, the Synodal Cathedral Hosts the Celebration of the Russian Church Abroad’s Youth Day

Seven years ago, in 2009, the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia decided to renew the celebration of Youth Day on the Sunday of All Saints. On Sunday, June 26, 2016, Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign in New York City, headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, President of the Synodal Youth Department.

His Eminence was joined by His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Deputy Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, Protopriest Andrei Sommer, Senior Priest of the Cathedral and Vice President of the Synodal Youth Department, and the cathedral clergymen. Singing was the St Vladimir Youth Association Choir under the direction of Paul and Anisia Roudenko, which had recently returned from a missionary trip to Ukraine. Members of the Association also served in the altar. Present at Liturgy was the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign.”

Metropolitan Hilarion thanked the young people who attended Liturgy and called upon them to follow the young members of the “vladimirovtsy,” and actively participate both in parish and missionary service.

After services, a reception was held in the Synodal courtyard, attended by Metropolitan Hilarion and Bishop Nicholas.
