The Clergy and Parishioners of Holy Trinity Cathedral Help Donetsk Diocese Procure Insulin

On May 1, 2014, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol, aid was received by diabetics living in Donetsk in the form of insulin. As part of a memorandum of cooperation between the Donetsk Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the Health Department of Donetsk, various types of insulin medication were provided, as reported by Orthodox Donbass.

The day before, Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in Donetsk received three special containers of the medicine, which arrived through Odessa. Funds to cover the cost and expenses were collected from the Orthodox Christians of Holy Trinity Cathedral in Toronto, Canada, to whom the Donetsk Diocese appealed to for help. Elena Petryaeva of the Health Department noted that there is a severe shortage of insulin, and so this donation was very timely and crucial. The insulin will be distributed to diabetics as needed.
