The Conference of Russian Orthodox Bishop Serving in the Diaspora Concludes
The impressive Conference of Russian Orthodox Bishops Serving in the Diaspora, which gathered archpastors of the Russian Orthodox Church serving outside its canonical territory, came to an end on October 21, 2012, in the capital of Great Britain. On the second day of the event, the conference participants, headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk, President of the Department of External Church Relations, discussed perspectives in the area of joint pastoral work, calling for better cooperation in the future. They also discussed internal and external missionary work, practices in divine services, and methods of receiving those who wish to join the Orthodox Church.
Also on the table were matters pertaining to ministry to the multi-lingual diaspora, as well as cooperation in the Holy Land.
The conference members also participated in celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Sourozh Diocese. The conference also issued a concluding declaration.
