Hieromonk Roman (Krassovsky) is Appointed Acting Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem

On Thursday, June 14, 2012, the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, having heard a report on the health of Archimandrite Tikhon (Amelchenya), Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, appointed Hieromonk Roman (Krassovsky), resident of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville and teacher at its seminary, as Acting Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem.

Having graduated Holy Trinity Seminary in 1984, the future Hieromonk Roman, born Michael Vadimovich Krassovsky, became a novice at Holy Trinity Monastery. On the eve of the Praise of the Mother of God in 1992, he was tonsured a monk by Archbishop Laurus of Syracuse and Holy Trinity (later Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia), and given the name Roman, in honor of St Roman the Melodist. On July 17, 1993, Archbishop Laurus ordained Monk Roman to the rank of hierodeacon, and on May 6, 1994, on Bright Friday, he was ordained a hieromonk. Fr Roman teaches Church Singing and Liturgics at Holy Trinity Seminary and leads the right-side kliros at the monastery. With the blessing of the Synod of Bishops, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Holy Trinity Monastery Calendar with divine service notes.
